Rolling Road & Dyno Tuning in Somerset

If you want to know what your car really makes, a rolling road is the only honest way to find out. Reidy Remaps runs an 800bhp 2WD dyno at our workshop at High Winds Farm Business Park, Higher Holton, just outside Wincanton (BA9 8AP). It can measure up to 800bhp, which covers almost every road and track car we see.

We use the dyno for three things: straight power runs, custom remapping, and finding faults that only show up under load.

Dyno power runs

A power run straps your car to the rollers and takes it through the rev range at full load, so you get a printed graph of power and torque. People book them to:

  • check a car is making the power it should before or after buying it
  • see whether a modification has actually made a difference
  • get a baseline before a remap, so the gains can be proven afterwards

Dyno runs start from £60, and remaps tuned on the rolling road start from £325. See our pricing page for the full list, or give us a call.

Remapping on the rolling road

Any remapper can flash a file onto your car. The difference here is that we write our own remap files and tune them on the dyno, so you leave with before and after graphs showing exactly what changed. Before choosing anyone, it is worth asking three questions: do they have a dyno, can they prove the figures they quote, and are they writing the file themselves or sending it to someone else?

You are welcome to stay and watch while we work on the ECU software, and tell us how you want the car to drive. Every car is checked with diagnostics before and after the remap, and in most cases we datalog it on a road test to make sure it is performing properly. If you are not happy with the remap, you do not pay, and we can return the car to standard.

Read more about custom remapping or see our ECU remapping in Wincanton page.

Finding faults under load

Some problems never show up when a car is parked with a code reader plugged in. Loss of power, boost problems, misfires and flat spots often only appear under full load. Running the car on the dyno while we log the data lets us reproduce the problem safely and see what is going on. We pair this with dealer-level diagnostic equipment, including Snap-on, Bosch KTS, Ford IDS, Peugeot Planet, VCDS and Volvo VIDA DiCE. See our diagnostics and repair page for more.

Modified and project cars

The dyno really earns its keep on modified cars. We map turbo conversions on standard ECUs, including MEMS 3, EEC-V, EEC-VI and many Bosch ECUs, and we work with standalone systems such as DTA and MoTeC. Bigger turbos or larger injectors are no problem. Have a look at our Fiesta ST 150 turbo and Suzuki Swift turbo conversion projects.

Four-wheel-drive cars

Our dyno is two-wheel drive, so we cannot run 4WD cars on it. We can still remap 4WD vehicles without the dyno. Just let us know what you drive when you book.

Where we are

The workshop is just off the A303 near Wincanton, an easy drive from Yeovil, Sherborne, Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Bruton, Castle Cary and the rest of south Somerset, north Dorset and west Wiltshire. If you cannot get to us during the day, we offer a pick-up and drop-off service.

Rolling road FAQs

How long does a dyno run take?

A straightforward power run is quick. A remap on the dyno takes longer because we test, adjust and test again. We will give you a time when you book.

Is a dyno run safe for my car?

The car is strapped down and cooled, and we watch temperatures and engine data throughout. If we spot a problem during the run, we stop and tell you.

Do I get a printout?

Yes. You get the power and torque graphs, and after a remap you get before and after graphs side by side.

Can you dyno my 4×4?

Not on the rollers, as our dyno is 2WD. We can still remap most 4WD vehicles.
